In 2017, the Pintrest community helped restore an incomplete set of Snarfdude's scans available for download on The Pirate Bay under the username "ScaryScars". The torrent contains ten incomplete copies of Snarf's scans that are up to two years old. The Phantom comic was first available online in 2005. It was first released online as a .cbz file, which is difficult to keep track of and therefore difficult to share legitimately without obtaining permission from Dark Horse Comics. The people of the original torrent "PhanComi" managed to get the permission to seed the comic online, but were not allowed to distribute it.
